Simple SEO Marketing terms you may have forgotten the meanings to.
301 Redirect:
Also known as URL forwarding, ability to forward a domain to a site. Redirecting a page elsewhere.
Backlink:
Another site that links back to you, with or without NOFOLLOW.
Black Hat SEO:
In-proper SEO tactics to try to reek the benefits of hi ranks and traffic (examples of tactics used is spam indexing, irrelevant content, keyword stuffing, bogus back linking).
Bot:
Not to be confused with robots. Bots are tools some web developers use to get Meta Data information from other sites.
CPC:
(Cost Per Click) this is a paid method of acquiring web traffic. 1 Example is the paid results you see in the top or right hand side of your search results page of the search engine you’re using.
Landing Page:
The page you land when you go to the domain, this is more referred to a site using a page or window to get to their site.
Organic SEO:
(Organic Search Engine Optimization) this is a natural Organic approach to optimizing you page or website online.
PPC:
Known as pay per click advertising. Advertisements on a page and if the user sees or clicks on the add the site owner makes money.
Reciprocal Link:
Similar to “back link” but both parties link to each other, usually with “NOFOLLOW”.
SERP:
This is not to be confused with Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan – SERP.
(Search Engine Results Page) this is the results the search engine gives you for your search.
SEM:
(Search Engine Marketing) The Organic art of marketing your web site to search engines.
Spider:
Not to be confused with an Insect arachnid spider or a bot. Spiders are tools that un-manned search engines and directories use to pull in sites from the internet to be data based.
Splash Page:
Similar to a landing page, but used as a temporary page till development finished, also possible used with redirects.
TLD:
(Top Level Domain) Example (example.com) com it the top level domain. The extension .ca .com .org etc. manage by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) the government of the internet.
White Hat SEO:
Proper Organic SEO practices, in hopes of getting higher traffic and ranking.
